Letting Go vs. Coming Untethered

I remember growing up, my mom would drive us everywhere. Even 10-hour trips were taken in the car. She used to joke that she had control issues, and that's why our family never flew to visit our grandparents.

It can be really hard to let go.

It's so human to want to hold on tighter to what we can control, especially when the big problems are beyond us.

.

But there's a difference between letting go and becoming untethered. When we surrender things to God, we are still grounded in Him. Letting go of anxiety and fear, doubt and anger, grudges, hatred and insecurities brings us closer to His heart. It's hard work, but Jesus is patient with us.

When we come untethered, we have no anchor, no foundation. We are like the seed scattered on rocky ground; we are blown away without growing lasting roots.

Surrender is good. Being untethered is not.

What can we surrender that ties us down or gets in the way of our relationship with God?
